Advocate Training for Civil Orders
As someone who has witnessed the often overwhelming and complex legal system that survivors must navigate, this project is particularly important to me because it aims to bridge the gap between survivors’ needs and the legal protections available to them. Protection orders are powerful tools that can provide immediate safety, establish clear legal boundaries, and empower survivors to regain control over their lives. This training module equips advocates with the knowledge and practical skills needed to effectively guide survivors through the various types of protection orders, from Family Abuse Prevention Act (FAPA) orders to Stalking Protective Orders (SPO) and Emergency Protective Orders (EPO). By emphasizing a survivor-centered approach, the training ensures that advocates not only understand the legal processes but also offer compassionate, holistic support that addresses the emotional, physical, and financial needs of survivors. For me, this project is about creating a community of informed advocates who can help survivors navigate the legal landscape with confidence and care, while ensuring that their voices are heard and their safety is prioritized.
